How this service works
Move a confirmed booking to another open time. Free, like cancel. 200: the booking body with the new time (scheduled_start, scheduled_end, local_start, label) and a message for the person. 409 { error: "slot_unavailable", message, alternatives: [{ start, end, local_start, label }] } when that time was taken: show the message, offer the alternatives by label and do not retry the same start. 404 { error: "booking_not_found" } when there is no booking with that id. 400 { error: "invalid_request", message } when start is malformed. Asking for the time the booking already has answers with it. Show message and label to the person as they are.
Output
Returns the full updated booking object including the new scheduled_start and scheduled_end (UTC), local_start (in attendee's time zone with UTC offset), a human-readable label (e.g. 'Thu, Oct 22, 2:00 PM EDT'), booking status, and a message string to show the attendee. On conflict (409), returns an error with alternative available slots by label. On missing booking (404) or bad input (400), returns a structured error with a message.

Use this endpoint when a user has an existing confirmed booking and wants to move it to a different time, rather than cancelling and re-booking. It is free, preserves the booking_id, and handles slot conflicts gracefully by returning alternatives. Prefer this over cancel + create when the user wants continuity of their booking reference.
Side effects
- 409 slot_unavailable: the requested time was already taken — response includes a message and an alternatives array of available slots; show alternatives by label to the user and do not retry the same start
- 404 booking_not_found: no booking exists with the given booking_id — verify the ID is correct
- 400 invalid_request: the start datetime is malformed — ensure it is a valid ISO 8601 instant (Z or UTC-offset form)
