Use this endpoint when you need a fast, offline, deterministic lookup of national public holidays for a specific date and country from a well-defined set (US, CA, GB, IE, DE, FR, IT, CH, AT, BE, NL, LU, ES, PT, PL, SE, NO, DK, FI, AU, NZ). Prefer it over scraping or LLM reasoning for compliance-sensitive scheduling where accuracy and consistency matter. Not suitable for regional/state-level holidays or countries outside the supported list.
Side effects
- Unknown country code — returns an error if the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code is not in the supported list
- Date out of range — years before 1970 or after 2100 are rejected
- Malformed date — dates not matching YYYY-MM-DD pattern are rejected
- Regional/state holidays not covered — only national public holidays are included
- Payment failure — $0.003 USDC on Base must be paid; unpaid requests can use the /v1/sandbox/holiday-check endpoint
