Fetch a web page server-side and convert it to clean markdown — headings, links, lists, tables and text, with scripts, styles and boilerplate stripped. The 'reader' pattern agents use to actually understand web pages. SSRF-guarded with redirects re-validated, 10s timeout, 1MB cap. Use this when an agent needs to fetch any page and get clean markdown an LLM can read.
Output
Clean markdown representation of the fetched web page, with headings, links, lists, and tables preserved, and scripts, styles, navigation, and boilerplate stripped. Optionally truncated to a specified character limit. The result is directly readable by an LLM without further HTML parsing.

Use this endpoint when an agent needs to fetch any publicly accessible web page and get clean, LLM-readable markdown without writing custom scraping logic. It is ideal for reading articles, documentation pages, pricing pages, or any text-heavy URL. Prefer it over raw HTTP fetches when you need boilerplate stripped and markdown structure preserved. It is not suitable for JavaScript-heavy SPAs where content is rendered client-side, or for pages behind authentication.
Side effects
- URL is unreachable or returns a non-200 status — endpoint returns an error
- Page exceeds 1MB cap — content is truncated or rejected
- Request times out after 10 seconds for slow-loading pages
- SSRF guard blocks internal/private IP addresses or localhost URLs
- Redirect chain is blocked by re-validation guard
- Heavily JavaScript-rendered pages may return sparse content since server-side fetching doesn't execute JS
- maxChars set too low, resulting in truncated or incomplete output
