Choose this endpoint when you need a real-time, on-chain USD price for any Base network token — especially for tokens not listed on centralized exchanges, or when you want DEX-sourced pricing (Uniswap v3 / Aerodrome) rather than CEX data. It requires no API key, supports custom contract addresses, and automatically finds the best routing path (direct or via WETH). Prefer it over CEX price APIs when Base-native or long-tail DeFi token pricing is needed.
Side effects
- Unknown or unsupported token symbol returns an error or empty result
- Invalid contract address format (>42 chars or non-hex) rejected by schema validation
- Token with no liquidity pool on Base DEX returns no price data
- Network congestion may cause slight staleness in quoted price
- Request without required 'token' query parameter returns a validation error
