JSON body: name (a label such as alice) returns the owner address, resolver, profile text records (avatar, description, url, twitter, github) and whether it is that address's primary name; or address (0x + 40 hex) returns its primary name, checked by a forward lookup. Output
Returns a JSON object containing: for a name lookup — the owner address, resolver contract address, whether this is the address's primary name, and profile text records (avatar, description, url, twitter, github); for an address lookup — the primary Basename string confirmed by forward resolution. Returns 404 if the name is unknown.

Use this endpoint when you need to resolve a human-readable Basename (e.g. 'alice') to a wallet address and profile on Base, or reverse-resolve an 0x address to its primary Basename. Prefer this over generic ENS resolvers when the name is specifically a Base L2 onchain name (basename). It also returns rich profile metadata (avatar, social handles) in a single call, making it ideal for identity enrichment workflows on Base.
Side effects
- Unknown or unregistered Basename returns 404
- Address with no primary Basename set returns 404 or empty primary name
- Malformed address (not 0x + 40 hex) causes validation error
- Name label with invalid characters may be rejected
- Request body exceeding 2 KB limit is rejected
- Response latency up to 5 seconds under load
- AI-generated responses may occasionally be stale if onchain state changed recently
