How this service works
Image search over Brave's independent index. Returns images with the page they appear on, the image URL, a thumbnail, and the size. Use it to find pictures of a subject. Pass q, and optionally count and safesearch.
Output
Returns an array of image results, each containing the image URL, the source page URL, the image title, a thumbnail URL, and the image dimensions (width and height). Also includes the original query string for reference.

It is ideal when you want privacy-respecting image search results, need to avoid Google's index bias, or want structured image metadata (URL, thumbnail, size, source) rather than just image links. Prefer it over generic web search endpoints when the primary need is visual/image content.
Side effects
- Missing required 'q' parameter returns a 400 error
- Query exceeding 400 characters may be rejected or truncated
- count values outside the 1–200 range will be rejected
- Invalid country or language codes may return unexpected results or errors
- Payment failure (x402) results in a 402 response and no results
- Safesearch=strict may filter out results that would appear with safesearch=off
