Best when the user wants to explore the trial landscape rather than retrieve a single known trial.
Side effects
- No matching trials found — returns empty list with total count of 0
- Invalid enum value for phase/status/study_type — returns validation error
- ClinicalTrials.gov upstream timeout or unavailability — returns 5xx error
- Missing required query intent (no cond, intr, lead, term, or titles provided) — may return overly broad or error result
- page_size exceeds maximum of 50 — returns validation error
