Use this endpoint when you need simple, current spot prices for one or more known coins across one or more currencies. It is faster and cheaper than the full Coin Data endpoint when you only need prices, market cap, volume, or 24h change — not historical data, charts, or detailed coin metadata. Prefer this over Market Chart when you want current snapshots rather than time-series data.
Side effects
- Invalid coin ID returns empty data or error — verify IDs using the Coins List endpoint
- Invalid vs_currency code returns empty or error response
- Too many coin IDs in a single request may result in rate limiting or timeout
- Network or upstream CoinGecko API outage returns a non-success response
- Precision parameter with invalid value may be ignored or cause an error
