Choose this endpoint when you need a multi-day historical timeseries of foreign exchange rates (not just a single point-in-time rate), especially when ECB reference rates are acceptable. Ideal for financial reconciliation, trend analysis, or reporting over a period up to about one year. Prefer over live-rate endpoints when historical accuracy across a date range is the requirement rather than a current spot rate.
Side effects
- Invalid or unsupported currency symbol returns an error or empty rates
- Date range exceeding approximately one year may be rejected
- Malformed date format outside YYYY-MM-DD or MM/DD/YYYY may cause a parsing error
- ECB does not publish rates on weekends/holidays so those dates may be missing from output
- Payment failure via x402 means the call is not charged and data is not returned
