Prefer this over general DeFi data endpoints when the user's goal is specifically about relative TVL change (gainers/losers) rather than absolute TVL rankings.
Side effects
- Invalid period value (not 1h, 1d, or 7d) — returns validation error
- Limit outside 1-50 range — returns error
- DefiLlama data source temporarily unavailable — may return empty or stale results
- Category filter string not matching any known protocol category — returns empty protocol list
- min_tvl set so high that no protocols qualify — returns empty list
