It is preferable over generic tax databases when you need category-level detail (foodstuffs, books, accommodation) and national legal references, and when the official European Commission source (TEDB) is required for credibility. Not suitable as a legal reference or for non-EU countries.
Side effects
- Missing or invalid country code (not a 2-letter ISO code or non-EU country) returns an error
- Invalid date format (must match YYYY-MM-DD) returns a validation error
- Date before TEDB historical coverage may return no data or an error
- Non-EU country codes (e.g. US, GB post-Brexit) will not be found
- Network or upstream TEDB data unavailability may cause 5xx errors
