Choose this endpoint when you need to convert HTML — either as a raw string or fetched from a public HTTPS URL — into clean Markdown, especially for LLM ingestion, note-taking pipelines, or content archiving. Prefer it over general-purpose scraping tools when the desired output format is explicitly Markdown. The built-in URL fetching with redirect handling and size limits makes it safe for automated pipelines.
Side effects
- HTTP URLs (non-HTTPS), file://, data://, localhost, or private IP addresses are rejected with an error
- Response body exceeds 1 MB limit — fetch aborted
- URL fetch times out after ~10 seconds
- More than 5 redirects encountered — fetch fails
- Neither 'html' nor 'url' parameter provided — request rejected
- URL returns non-HTML content type that cannot be meaningfully converted
