Single GET query parameter (url). One document only; child sitemaps are not fetched.

Returns a JSON object containing the original site URL, the discovered sitemap URL (or null), up to 100 normalized http/https URLs found in the sitemap, the total URL count, sitemap document kind (urlset, sitemapindex, or unknown), HTTP status of the sitemap fetch, a truncation flag indicating if more than 100 URLs exist, the fetch timestamp, a UUID receipt ID, and a tamper-evident chain hash for verification.

Choose this endpoint when you need a fast, server-side sitemap lookup with a tamper-evident audit trail — particularly useful when you need both the list of URLs and a verifiable receipt proving what the sitemap contained at a specific time. It is better than a raw HTTP fetch when you want normalized URLs, automatic robots.txt fallback discovery, and receipt-chain verification in a single call. Not suitable when you need to recursively crawl child sitemaps or index more than 100 URLs.
Side effects
- No sitemap found: sitemap_url is null and urls is empty if neither robots.txt nor /sitemap.xml yields a sitemap
- Sitemap fetch error: sitemap_status reflects the HTTP error code (e.g. 404, 403) from the sitemap server
- Invalid URL input: request rejected if the url parameter is missing, malformed, or non-http/https
- Sitemapindex kind: child sitemaps are not recursively fetched; only the index document URLs are returned
- Truncation: if sitemap has more than 100 URLs, truncated is true and only the first 100 are returned
- Private/blocked sitemaps: server-side fetch may fail if the site blocks non-browser user agents
