Choose this endpoint when you need a strictly spec-compliant SemVer 2.0.0 comparison with full parsed output (major, minor, patch, prerelease, build metadata) rather than a simple string sort. Ideal for automated pipelines, dependency resolution logic, or any context where prerelease precedence rules matter. Prefer it over ad-hoc string comparison or regex-based approaches when correctness per the SemVer 2.0.0 specification is required.
Side effects
- Non-SemVer input strings (e.g. CalVer or loose version like '1.2') will likely fail or return an error — only strict SemVer 2.0.0 with optional leading 'v' is supported
- Missing required fields 'a' or 'b' will cause a validation error
- Strings exceeding 256 characters will be rejected
- Payment failure or insufficient USDC balance returns HTTP 402
