Prefer this endpoint when you need real-time USD prices for one or more crypto assets — including obscure on-chain tokens addressable by chain:contract — without requiring an account or API key, and when you want a per-call micropayment model with confidence scoring. It supports both standard tickers (BTC, SOL) and Base network contract addresses in a single request.
Side effects
- Invalid or unrecognized ticker symbol returns an error or missing entry
- Malformed chain:address format causes a parsing error
- Missing required 'coins' query parameter returns a 400-level error
- Payment failure (insufficient USDC balance) blocks the call with a 402 response
- Network or upstream data source outage may return stale or unavailable prices
