How this service works
US court opinion search on CourtListener (Free Law Project): case name, court, date filed, docket number and the opinion link. Short queries match as a phrase (?q=fair use), longer ones need every word. Cached; a query not yet cached is fetched live.

Returns a JSON object containing an array of matching court opinion hits (each with court name, case name, and filing date), a total count of results, a boolean match indicator, the original query string, and a cache status field indicating whether the result was served from cache.
