It is particularly strong for research papers, news, GitHub, financial reports, and LinkedIn profiles. Prefer it over generic search APIs when you want relevance-scored results with Exa's neural ranking and no API key setup — just pay $0.01 USDC per call via x402.
Side effects
- Query missing or empty — validation rejection, no charge
- num_results above 10 is clamped silently to 10
- snippets mode clamps num_results to 2 regardless of request
- Invalid date format for start/end_published_date returns validation error, no charge
- Server or upstream Exa failure returns error with no charge
- include_domains list exceeding 20 entries may be rejected
