It is especially useful when the seller is unfamiliar, not previously vetted, or discovered dynamically. Prefer this over generic HTTP health checks because it specifically queries x402 bazaar listings, payment inflow history, and live challenge probes — signals that are meaningless for non-x402 services.
Side effects
- Live challenge cannot be completed — endpoint returns 'caution' verdict with 'live challenge' in unavailable array
- Target URL is unreachable or malformed — may return caution with limited data
- No bazaar listing found — probe and bazaar fields return null
- Rate limiting or payment failure on the check itself — HTTP 402 or 429 response
