How this service works
Markdown to PDF. Send Markdown (headings, lists, tables, links, bold, italic); returns an A4 PDF as base64 in JSON. Use to hand a person a printable report or invoice-style page. Images and raw HTML are not rendered. Up to 50,000 characters. Typical response under 1 s. Failed calls are not charged.

A JSON object containing: the PDF as a base64-encoded string (pdf_base64), the suggested filename, file size in bytes, content type (application/pdf), and creation timestamp. The base64 string can be decoded to obtain a printable A4 PDF file.

Choose this endpoint when you have Markdown source content (headings, lists, tables, bold, italic, links) and need a clean A4 PDF without rendering images or arbitrary HTML. It is faster and cheaper than a full web-page-to-PDF conversion, and ideal for generating reports, invoices, or documentation handouts programmatically. Prefer the sibling 'Web page to PDF' endpoint if you need to render a live URL with full HTML/CSS/images.
Side effects
- Markdown exceeding 50,000 characters returns a validation error
- Empty or missing markdown field returns a 400-level error
- Raw HTML or image tags in markdown are silently ignored or not rendered
- Malformed markdown may produce an unexpected but valid PDF layout
- Service unavailability returns a non-200 response; failed calls are not charged
