Total value locked in DeFi from DefiLlama. For a protocol (its slug, e.g. aave-v3) the current TVL; for a chain (Base, Ethereum...) its TVL with 1-day and 7-day changes. A protocol's history is too large to read here, so it has no change figures. Attribution: Data: DefiLlama. Information only, not financial advice.

Output

A JSON object containing the protocol slug, current TVL in USD (as a float), data source attribution (DefiLlama), a timestamp of when the data was checked, a note about limitations (no per-chain breakdown or historical changes), and a financial disclaimer. Data is cached for 10 minutes.

Prefer this over raw DefiLlama API calls when you want a pay-per-call model without managing API keys, and when you only need current TVL (not historical TVL trends, per-chain breakdowns, or 1/7-day changes — those require DefiLlama's heavier per-protocol files which this endpoint does not fetch).
