Use this endpoint when you need to read live on-chain state from any EVM smart contract without setting up a full node, RPC provider, or API key — especially for DeFi analytics, token metadata, protocol parameter inspection, or wallet balance checks across Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, Optimism, Avalanche, or BSC. Prefer it over generic blockchain RPC tools when you want a single pay-per-call HTTP API with no credential management.
Side effects
- Invalid contract address — returns error if address is not a valid EVM 0x address
- Function not found — returns error if the specified functionName does not exist on the contract
- Wrong argument types or count — call reverts if args do not match the function signature
- Unsupported chain — error if chain name is not one of the eight supported values
- Contract not deployed on specified chain — returns error if address has no code on that chain
- Payment failure — x402 payment of 0.005 USDC must succeed before the call is executed
