When to prefer

Choose this endpoint when you need to extract readable text from a raster image (PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, TIFF) hosted at a public URL, and want a confidence score alongside the text. It is especially useful for receipts, scanned forms, screenshots, and signage where the text is embedded in the image. Prefer it over PDF-specific OCR tools when the source is a raw image file rather than a PDF.
