Side effects
- Invalid or inaccessible URL returns an error (private/firewalled URLs not reachable)
- Non-sitemap XML or malformed XML may fail to parse
- Gzip decompression failures for corrupted .xml.gz files
- Sitemap index with follow=N may hit rate limits on child fetches
- Output capped at 500 URLs — large sitemaps are truncated
