How this service works
Call this when an agent tracks GDACS disasters (see /v1/disaster-events) and needs what changed since a date: alert-level moves, is_current flips with how long the previous state held, and events entering or leaving Orange/Red scope, each dated to the daily snapshot that first showed it. GDACS publishes episode lists free but never when anything changed; these dates are ours, from 2026-08-25. Orange/Red only. Not for life-safety. Filters: since (required), until, kind, event_type.
Output
A list of change records, each containing: the disaster event ID and type, the kind of change (entered_scope, alert_changed, current_changed, or left_scope), the snapshot date when the change was first observed, old and new values where applicable (e.g. alert level before/after, days held for is_current flips), re_entry flags for returning events, and undetermined flags for scope exits where the reason is ambiguous.

Choose this endpoint when an agent already holds a baseline snapshot of GDACS disasters and needs only what changed — rather than re-fetching the full current event list from /v1/disaster-events. It is the right tool for building changelogs, alert-escalation triggers, de-escalation audits, or any workflow that needs to know the exact date a change first appeared in the daily archive. Prefer the sibling Disaster Signals endpoint for a fresh view of currently active events, not for change history.
Side effects
- Missing required 'since' parameter returns a validation error
- Dates formatted incorrectly (non-ISO) cause a 400 bad request
- No changes found in the requested window returns an empty list
- Requests for data before 2026-08-25 (archive start) return no results or an error
- Invalid enum values for kind or event_type return a 422 validation error
- Payment not included or insufficient USDC triggers a 402 response
