Weather Alerts – Active Severe-Weather Alerts (US)

Choose this endpoint when you need real-time active severe-weather alerts (watches, warnings, advisories) for a US location. Prefer it over general forecast endpoints when safety-critical hazard awareness is the goal rather than temperature or precipitation forecasts. It complements the hourly forecast sibling endpoint, which covers routine conditions.

• Location not in US coverage area — no alerts returned or error indicating unsupported region
• Ambiguous place name — may return alerts for wrong region if place name is not specific enough
• No active alerts — returns empty result set for the location (not an error, just no current hazards)
• Malformed input object — request rejected with schema validation error
• Payment failure — 402 response if USDC payment is not properly attached
