Use this endpoint when you need live, per-model pricing conditions for a specific OpenRouter model — especially for cost monitoring, budget forecasting, pre-run status checks, or alerting on price changes. Prefer this over generic OpenRouter model list endpoints when you already know the model ID and want rich derived metrics (standard job cost, price deltas, expiration countdown) in one call. The $0.01 per-call cost makes it suitable for periodic polling but not high-frequency streaming.
Side effects
- Unknown or invalid model ID returns HTTP 400 before any payment is charged
- Model has no vendor status JSON feed — status field returns 'unknown'
- Model recently delisted — may return stale data or 404
- Network timeout if OpenRouter or vendor status feeds are slow
- Malformed model ID (missing slash separator) returns 400
