It is preferable to raw RPC calls because it abstracts eth_getTransactionReceipt and normalises the output into a clean JSON with human-readable fields like fee_eth and status strings. Use it for payment verification, debugging, or auditing individual Ethereum transactions rather than bulk or cross-chain queries.
Side effects
- Invalid tx_hash format (not matching ^0x[0-9a-fA-F]{64}$) returns a validation error
- Transaction not yet indexed or pending returns status 'pending' or 'not found'
- Non-existent transaction hash returns status 'not found'
- Network or RPC node downtime may cause timeout or 5xx error
- Rate limiting or payment failure results in 402 or 429 response
