Side effects
- Name too generic or common returns many ambiguous results — use maxItems to cap
- Author not indexed in OpenAlex returns empty results
- Misspelled author name returns no matches or wrong researchers
- Very new or obscure researchers may have incomplete citation data
- Network timeout or upstream OpenAlex API unavailability returns 5xx error
