Use this endpoint when you need a fast, cheap ($0.01), per-address OFAC SDN direct-match check on any EVM address before executing a blockchain payment. Prefer this over the full ChainWard counterparty check when you only need to confirm an address is not directly listed on the OFAC SDN digital currency list, and cost or latency is a concern. Not a substitute for full AML/KYC or behavioral analysis.
Side effects
- Invalid address format (not a valid 0x EVM address) — likely returns an error or 400 response
- Address added to OFAC list after the snapshot date — will incorrectly return Not listed
- Wallet indirectly associated with sanctioned party but not directly listed — not caught by this endpoint (use full counterparty check)
- Payment failure for the $0.01 USDC x402 fee — call blocked
- Stale snapshot if ChainWard has not refreshed the OFAC data recently
