Use this endpoint when you need a fast, simple spot price for one or more well-known cryptocurrencies by CoinGecko coin ID in a standard fiat or crypto currency. Prefer this over on-chain DEX endpoints when dealing with major coins (BTC, ETH, SOL, etc.) rather than long-tail tokens, or when you don't have a contract address and only know the coin name or CoinGecko ID.
Side effects
- Invalid coin ID returns empty or error response
- Unsupported currency code returns 400 error
- Rate limit exceeded returns 429 error
- Network timeout if CoinGecko API is under load
- Missing required parameters (ids, vs_currencies) returns 400
