Use this endpoint when you need onchain DEX pricing for Ethereum tokens identified only by contract address, especially for tokens not listed on centralized exchanges. It is ideal when you want raw DEX market data including reserves and volume rather than aggregated CeFi prices. Prefer this over CoinGecko's standard /simple/price endpoint when you have a contract address but not a CoinGecko coin ID, or when you specifically need onchain liquidity metrics.
Side effects
- Unknown or unsupported contract address returns empty or null data
- Token with no active DEX liquidity may return no price data unless include_inactive_source is enabled
- Invalid contract address format causes a 400 bad request error
- Rate limit exceeded returns 429 too many requests
- Authentication failure (missing or invalid API key) returns 401 unauthorized
- Network not supported at this endpoint path returns 404
