Use this endpoint when you need to extend the registration of an already-owned domain. Should be preceded by a pricing check for premium domains. Prefer this over re-registration flows; it is the canonical renewal action for domains managed under this MPP-backed registrar.
Side effects
- Domain not found in account — returns error if the domain path parameter doesn't match a registered domain
- Missing purchasePrice for premium domain — renewal rejected if premium domain requires price confirmation
- Years out of range — error if renewal period is less than 1 or greater than 10
- Insufficient funds or payment failure — transaction rejected
- Domain in locked or transfer-pending state — renewal may be blocked
