Side effects
- Invalid or malformed LEI (not 20 characters) returns a 400 error
- LEI not found in GLEIF registry returns a 404 or empty result
- Lapsed or retired LEI may return a record with a non-ISSUED status rather than an error
- GLEIF data source unavailable causes a 503 or timeout
- Network issues or upstream GLEIF API downtime may cause intermittent failures
