How this service works
Contractor license status plus matching business-entity record. Currently served: CA, FL, OR, TX, VA, WA. FL and TX also take `profession`; values at GET /v1/license/professions?state=FL|TX. Empty licenses is a paid 200. data_as_of is required.
Output
Returns the contractor's current license status, license type, expiry, and a matching state business-entity record (formation date, status, principal address). An empty licenses array with HTTP 200 indicates a paid response with no matching license found. Includes a data_as_of timestamp indicating data freshness.

It is purpose-built for contractor license validation (not general professional licenses) and uniquely pairs the license record with the state business-entity filing. Prefer this over generic business-registry lookups when the contractor's trade license status is specifically needed, or over general search endpoints when you have a name or license number to anchor the query.
Side effects
- Empty licenses array (paid 200) when no matching license exists for the given name/state/number combination
- Unsupported state: only FL and OR are currently served; other states will return an error or empty result
- Missing required state field causes validation error
