Resolve a legal entity's direct and ultimate accounting-consolidating parents from GLEIF's global CC0 LEI registry. Returns parent names and LEIs, relationship status, corroboration and explicit reporting exceptions. Useful for counterparty and corporate-group diligence. Not beneficial-owner identities or ownership percentages. LEI checksum validated before payment; stale results flagged.
Output
Returns the entity's direct parent and ultimate parent (each with legal name and LEI), relationship status (active/inactive), whether the data is corroborated, staleness flags, and any explicit reporting exceptions (e.g. no LEI issued for parent, or natural person as parent).

Use this endpoint when you need authoritative, GLEIF-sourced corporate parent data for a known LEI — specifically for accounting-consolidation relationships used in regulatory and financial contexts. Prefer this over general company search APIs when you already have the LEI and need structured parent-chain data with explicit exception handling. Not suitable for discovering beneficial owners, equity ownership percentages, or when you only have a company name (use the sibling LEI search endpoint first).
Side effects
- Invalid LEI checksum — returns validation error before making payment
- LEI not found in GLEIF registry — entity may be deregistered or never registered
- Relationship data unavailable — entity has no reported parent (e.g. standalone entity)
- Stale data flagged — relationship record not recently updated by managing LOU
- Reporting exception present — parent intentionally not disclosed (e.g. natural person, no LEI)
