Resolve a 20-character Legal Entity Identifier (LEI, ISO 17442) to its authoritative entity record: verified legal name, registration status (ISSUED/LAPSED/RETIRED), entity status, jurisdiction, legal form, registration number, legal and headquarters addresses, key dates (registration, last update, next renewal), managing LOU, corroboration level and any BIC codes. ISO 7064 check digits are verified before payment.
Output
Returns the authoritative GLEIF entity record for the given LEI, including: verified legal name, registration status (ISSUED/LAPSED/RETIRED), entity status, jurisdiction, legal form code, local registration number, legal and headquarters addresses (street, city, country, postal code), key dates (registration, last update, next renewal), managing Local Operating Unit (LOU), corroboration level, and any associated BIC codes. ISO 7064 check digits are validated before the payment is processed.

Use this endpoint when you have an exact 20-character LEI code and need authoritative, ISO 17442-compliant entity data directly from the GLEIF registry. Prefer this over name-based search when you already know the LEI and need verified legal details for KYC, trade reporting, regulatory compliance, or entity enrichment workflows. The sibling name-search endpoint should be used first if you only have a company name and need to discover the LEI.
Side effects
- Invalid LEI format (not 20 alphanumeric characters) — check digit validation fails before payment
- LEI not found in GLEIF registry — entity may not exist or was never registered
- Lapsed or retired LEI — record returned but status indicates inactive entity
