How this service works
Which companies just got a US patent, and in what technology? Search recent granted patents (PatentsView, CC BY 4.0) by assignee organization (the company), inventor, CPC subclass/section, patent type, or assignee state/country and grant-date window. new_assignee=true isolates patents from an org with its first-ever grant (emerging/stealth signal); flipped_inventor=true finds a patent whose assignee gained an inventor from a prior different assignee (talent move). Public grants, observational.
Output
Returns a list of granted US patents matching the query, each including patent number, title, grant date, patent type, assignee organization name and location, inventor names, CPC classifications, and number of claims. Includes flags for new_assignee (first-ever grant for that org) and flipped_inventor (inventor previously credited to a different assignee).

Use this endpoint when you need structured, filterable access to US granted patent data with competitive intelligence overlays like first-time assignees or inventor talent moves. Prefer it over generic patent search tools when you need programmatic filtering by company, technology class (CPC), geography, or date range, especially to identify emerging IP activity or workforce signals. Not suitable for patent application (pre-grant) data or non-US patent systems.
Side effects
- No results returned when assignee name fragment doesn't match PatentsView records — try broader or alternate name
- Invalid CPC subclass code returns empty or error — verify code format (e.g. G06N not G06)
- Date range too narrow yields zero results for niche technology classes
- Offset beyond result set returns empty array
- flipped_inventor or new_assignee with very recent dates may have incomplete data due to PatentsView ingestion lag
- Rate limit or payment failure with x402 protocol returns 402 error
