Prefer this over the market scan endpoint when you only need one coin in depth. Use instead of the sentiment endpoint when you need price levels and actionable trade ideas, not just fear/greed readings.
Side effects
- Unknown or unsupported coin ticker returns an error — use GET /v1/coins (free) to list supported coins
- Stale data if called after stale_after timestamp — check next_update to know when to refresh
- Network or payment failure results in no response — retry with valid USDC payment
- Malformed coin parameter (not matching pattern ^[A-Za-z0-9-]{1,40}$) returns a validation error
