It is preferable over episode-level search when the goal is trend detection across shows rather than finding specific episodes, and over guest profile lookups when you don't know who to look up yet.
Side effects
- Invalid 'since' or 'first_appearance_since' date format returns a 400 error
- Unknown 'topic_id' value returns empty results or 404
- Invalid 'suitability_tier_max' enum value returns a 400 validation error
- 'min_distinct_podcasts' set very high (e.g. 10+) may return empty results for niche topics
- Expired or invalid pagination cursor returns a 400 or 422 error
- No trending guests found in the specified window returns an empty result set
