How this service works
Smart-money consensus for ONE market category (path param, e.g. economics, politics, sports — case-insensitive). Same EDGE-based smart-money definition as /v1/signals/consensus (luck-damped realized edge over the last 30d > 0, NOT the scorer score), scoped: active Polymarket markets of that category with whale trades (>= $10,000) in the last 24h from edge-positive wallets; YES/NO smart volume, net flow, direction verdict. Category coverage is partial — markets without a category are excluded (see coverage_note in the response). Unknown category => 404 (not charged) listing known_categories. Honest degradation via {"insufficient_data": true, "reason": ...}. 15 min delay.
Output
Returns per-market smart-money data for the requested category: YES and NO smart volume from whale trades ≥$10,000 by edge-positive wallets (luck-damped realized edge >0 over 30d), net flow, and an overall direction verdict. Includes a coverage_note about partial category coverage. If data is insufficient, returns {"insufficient_data": true, "reason": ...}. If the category is unknown, returns a 404 with a known_categories list (not charged). Data has a 15-minute delay.

Use this endpoint when you need category-scoped smart-money signals from Polymarket specifically — i.e. you want to know what edge-proven whale wallets are doing in a named market vertical (politics, economics, sports, etc.) rather than across all markets. Prefer this over the global consensus endpoint when you need to narrow your analysis to one domain. Best for agents building sector-specific trading signals or monitoring a particular prediction market category for whale conviction.
Side effects
- Unknown category name returns 404 with known_categories list (no charge)
- Insufficient whale activity in category returns {"insufficient_data": true, "reason": ...}
- Markets without assigned categories are excluded, reducing coverage
- 15-minute data delay may miss very recent whale trades
- Partial category coverage means some active markets may not appear
