How this service works
Pay-per-call "state of the world" lookups that language models cannot know on their own: official ECB exchange rates (latest, historical, conversion), the current time and DST-aware time-zone conversion for scheduling, global weather forecasts (MET Norway, by coordinates or place name), official US National Weather Service forecasts and active watches/warnings/advisories (by state, point, place or zone), the live Hacker News front page, public holidays for ~100 countries (list by year, check a date, next holidays, long weekends, available countries via Nager.Date), and geocoding / reverse geocoding (place or address ↔ coordinates via Photon and Nominatim over OpenStreetMap). Side effects
- Place name not found — returns empty or error response if the query string doesn't match any known location
- Ambiguous place names may resolve to unexpected countries or cities (e.g. 'Springfield' without context)
- Very new or obscure addresses may not exist in OpenStreetMap data and will return no results
- Malformed or empty query parameter causes a 400 bad request
- Rate limiting or upstream Photon/Nominatim outage may cause temporary failures
