Prefer it over generic uptime checkers when certificate-specific data is required. Use it for proactive expiry monitoring, pre-deployment validation, or auditing third-party domains. For combined uptime and SSL summary without deep certificate detail, the sibling site-uptime-and-ssl endpoint may suffice.
Side effects
- Hostname not found or DNS resolution fails — returns error indicating unreachable host
- Site does not serve HTTPS at all — HTTPS availability flag set to false, certificate fields may be empty
- Certificate already expired — days-until-expiry will be negative, valid-now flag false
- Self-signed or private CA certificate may not appear in certificate-transparency logs
- Malformed hostname input — returns validation error
- Timeout if the host is slow to respond over TLS
