Output
Returns structured evidence across three separate dimensions: (1) tax validity — whether the EU VAT ID is currently active in the VIES system, (2) entity match — whether the supplied company name corresponds to the registered VAT holder, and (3) Peppol discoverability — whether the participant ID resolves on the Peppol network and can receive e-invoices. Response language is configurable as Japanese, English, or both.

Choose this endpoint when you need to validate a cross-border EU invoice counterparty using structured, separated evidence across tax validity, entity identity, and Peppol reachability — rather than a single pass/fail check. Especially useful for accounts payable workflows, supplier onboarding, and e-invoicing compliance where auditability of each verification dimension matters. Prefer this over generic VIES lookups when you also need Peppol discoverability, or over Peppol-only lookups when tax ID validity is also required.
Side effects
- Invalid or malformed VAT ID format returns validation error
- VIES service temporarily unavailable causes upstream lookup failure
- Peppol participant ID not found returns not-discoverable status
- Country code mismatch with VAT ID prefix triggers validation warning
- Name matching may fail for abbreviated or trading names vs. legal registered names
- Missing both vat_id and participant_id results in insufficient input error
