Ideal for due diligence, protocol comparison, or monitoring a specific protocol's health over time.
Side effects
- Unknown protocol slug returns an error or zero TVL — use exact DeFiLlama slugs like 'aave' not 'AAVE'
- Providing both protocol and chain simultaneously is rejected — only one is allowed
- Unrecognized chain name returns an error — use canonical names like 'Ethereum' not 'ETH'
- Network timeouts if upstream DeFiLlama data source is slow or unavailable
- Payment failure if x402 micropayment of $0.001 USDC is not included
