How this service works
Total value locked (USD) for one DeFi protocol by DefiLlama slug or name (e.g. "aave-v3", "lido", "uniswap-v3"): current TVL, per-chain TVL breakdown, 1h/1d/7d TVL change, category, chains, token symbol and market cap. Optional `chain` also returns that chain's TVL for the protocol. Unknown names return `found:false` with slug `suggestions`.
Output
Returns a JSON object containing the protocol's current total TVL in USD, a per-chain TVL breakdown, percentage changes over 1h/1d/7d periods, the protocol's category (e.g. DEX, Lending), list of chains it operates on, associated token symbol, and market cap. If an optional chain is provided, also returns that chain's specific TVL for the protocol. If the protocol name is unknown, returns found:false along with slug suggestions.

Ideal for monitoring TVL changes for a known protocol, or enriching research on a specific DeFi project with on-chain capital data.
Side effects
- Unknown protocol name returns found:false with slug suggestions instead of TVL data
- Misspelled or ambiguous protocol names may return suggestions rather than exact matches
- Chain parameter not matching an active chain for the protocol may return null or missing chain TVL
- DefiLlama data may have brief delays for very recent TVL changes
- Rate limiting or payment failures may prevent successful API calls
