How this service works
Irish company registry search on CRO open data (opendata.cro.ie, daily snapshot of the Companies Registration Office register). Query: ?q=ryanair (full-text name search) or ?q=249885 (company number), optional limit (1-10, default 3). Returns company number, name, status, type, registration and dissolution dates, registered address, NACE code, last annual return and accounts dates. Company data only. CC-BY 4.0. 24h cache.

A list of up to 10 matching Irish companies (default 3), each containing: CRO company number, company name, status (e.g. Normal/Dissolved), company type, registration date, dissolution date (if applicable), registered address, NACE industry code, date of last annual return, and date of last accounts filed.

Side effects
- No results found for the query — company name or number not in the CRO register
- Invalid limit parameter (outside 1-10 range) — API may reject or clamp
- Stale data — register is a daily snapshot with 24h cache, so very recent changes may not appear
- Query too generic — may return unrelated companies with similar names
- Company number format incorrect — must be digits only for number-based lookup
