Prefer this over the forgot-password/recovery flow when the current credentials are known. This is the standard in-session password change, not an account recovery operation.

- Malformed email format — 400 validation error
- Missing required fields (email, username, password, new_password) — 400 bad request
- Payment not provided or insufficient — 402 Payment Required with x402 extension fields
- New password too short or fails policy — 400 validation error
