Run a deep-research agent (multi-step research, async)
Output
An immediate 202 response containing a run_id (UUID string) and a status field always set to 'running'. The agent must then poll the dedicated status endpoint (/api/mpp/v1/agent/runs/status) using the run_id to retrieve the completed research results, citations, and data once the async multi-step agent finishes.

Choose this endpoint when the user's question requires multi-step research across multiple entities, time periods, or metrics — especially when a single search or answer won't suffice. Prefer this over Tako's synchronous Answer or Search endpoints when the query is complex, comparative, or requires synthesizing data from multiple sources. Use the 'low' effort mode for simpler factual questions needing speed, and 'medium' (default) for deep analytical reports. Use thread_id to continue a prior conversation thread with follow-up questions.
Side effects
- Missing required 'query' field returns a 422 validation error
- Invalid thread_id UUID format causes a 422 error
- Invalid source_indexes values (not 'data' or 'web') cause a 422 error
- Invalid effort level value (not 'low' or 'medium') causes a 422 error
- Payment not provided or insufficient USDC results in a 402 payment required error
- Downstream research agent timeout may result in a failed status when polling
- Invalid BCP-47 locale string may cause unexpected language behavior
