Web search API for AI agents, an Exa / Tavily alternative that costs less than both: Google-quality results re-ranked for authority (primary sources first), merged with papers (arXiv, Semantic Scholar), GitHub and news when the query needs them. Category (news, research paper, github, financial, company, pdf, docs), include/exclude domains, country, language, city, freshness, private mode. Each result: domain authority rank and type. ~1.7 s.

A ranked list of up to 10 web results, each with a URL, title, snippet, domain authority rank, and result type (e.g. news, research paper, github, company). Choose this endpoint when you need a single, focused web search with fine-grained control over result type (news, research paper, GitHub, financial, company, PDF, docs), domain filtering, country/language/city targeting, and freshness. It is cheaper than Exa or Tavily at $0.006/call, returns domain authority signals useful for source evaluation, and automatically surfaces academic papers and GitHub repos when relevant. Prefer it over the batch endpoint for single queries, over the Web Research endpoint when you don't need full page contents, and over the monitor endpoint when you don't need change-tracking.
Side effects
- Query returns zero results if includeDomains filter is too restrictive
- Invalid category value causes request failure
- Unsupported country or language code may return unexpected results or error
- Private mode may reduce result freshness or personalization
