How this service works
An empty items list is never the same as "no owner": ownership_status and the filed PSC statements/exemptions explain why the register discloses none. Returns the persons with significant control (PSCs) for a UK company — the individuals, entities or legal persons that own or control it — each nature of control carrying the register code and its official text, with dates and public identification. The UK statutory beneficial-ownership (UBO) record. Use when: Who owns this UK company?
Output
A paginated list of PSC records for the specified UK company, each containing the PSC's name, nature of control (with register code and official statutory text), dates of notification and cessation (if applicable), and public identification. The response also includes an ownership_status field and any filed PSC statements or exemptions explaining why the register may disclose no persons, plus pagination metadata (has_more, next_offset) to retrieve further pages.
Example use cases
Due diligence on a UK supplier
“I need to know who the beneficial owners of UK company 09624201 are before we sign a contract — pull the current PSC register, up to 50 entries.”
AML check on a new client
“Can you look up the persons with significant control for Companies House number 00445790? I need the nature of control details for our AML compliance file.”
Investigating a corporate ownership chain
“Who owns UK company 07495895? Include any ceased PSCs as well so I can see the full ownership history, returning up to 100 records.”

Endpoint
GEThttps://api.eckari.com/v1/companies/uk/:company_number/owners?utm_source=zero.xyzWhen to prefer
Use this endpoint when you need the statutory UK beneficial ownership (UBO) record from Companies House — specifically the PSC register — for a UK-registered company. Prefer it over generic company lookup endpoints when the user question is about ownership, control, or who holds significant influence over a UK entity. It is the authoritative source for regulatory compliance, KYC/AML checks, due diligence workflows, and corporate transparency investigations involving UK companies. Use the sibling profile endpoint if you need general company information (name, status, registered address) rather than ownership.
Side effects
- Invalid company number format (not 1-8 alphanumeric characters) returns INVALID_INPUT before payment
- Company number not found in Companies House register returns a not-found error
- Company has no active PSCs and ownership_status explains the reason (e.g. exemption filed)
- Pagination offset exceeds 10000 returns an error
- Upstream Companies House API unavailability may cause transient errors
- Ceased PSCs omitted by default unless include_ceased=true is passed
